South Bay JACL Scholarship Recipients

GARDENA VALLEY JACL SCHOLARSHIP

The Gardena Valley Japanese American Citizens League closed its chapter in 2012 but wanted to continue their scholarship program. The South Bay JACL Chapter was asked to provide the platform for their scholarships.

GARDENA VALLEY JACL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2026

Taiki Esuibel son of Gary and Mayu Esquibel of Torrance graduated from West Torrance High School with academic achievements including the California Scholastic Federation Seal Bearer, he was an AP Scholar and On the Principle’s Honor Roll.

Brandon’s on campus activities includes being on the Varsity Tennis Team

Brandon’s off campus activities include being a Member of the Impact Makers and being a Member of the 2025 Kizuna Leadership in Action

Brandon will be attending the University of California Riverside in the fall, majoring in Biochemistry

Nolan Ito son of Mark and Noreen Imatomi-Ito of Torrance graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School with academic achievements including member of the Principal’s Honor Roll, earning the George Montgomery Award and a Scholar Athlete.

Nolan’s on campus activities includes Member on the Varsity Baseball Team, a Mentor for Link Crew and a Member of Ambassadors. Nolan was a Member of the California Scholastic Federation.

Nolan’s off campus activities include being a Big Buddy for Special Needs Campers of Camp Escapade Momentum, and a Member of Youth Group at Lighthouse Community Church

Brandon will be attending the University of California San Diego in the fall, majoring in Business
