South Bay JACL Scholarship Recipients

DAVID & LILY NAKATANI SCHOLARSHIP

Lily Nakatani has been a valuable and long time Board Member for the South Bay JACL. They want to help our local high school students by offering a $1,000.00 scholarship.

DAVID & LILY NAKATANI SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2023

Ryan Yanai Herbers, son of Keith and Deanne Herbers of Torrance graduated from West Torrance High School. He was an AP Scholar with Distinction and was on the Principal’s Honor Roll.

Ryan’s on campus activities includes being a Community Service Volunteer for California Scholarship Federation. He was also a Community Service Leader and Volunteer for the West High Warrior Focus. Ryan was also the Varsity Team Captain for the West High Cross Country Team/Track and Field.

Brandon’s off campus activities include being a member and volunteer for the Tiger Youth Basketball organization.

Ryan will be attending the University of Southern California in the fall, majoring in Business Administration.
